Black History Month is about honoring history makers who change what leadership looks like in real time. Dr. Shun Thomas did just that when she became the first Black woman elected to serve on the Plano City Council. Representation is not symbolic. It shapes who feels seen. It shapes whose voices are heard when decisions are made about our neighborhoods, our schools, and our future. Dr. Thomas’ leadership reflects the strength, excellence, and service that have always been a part of our community’s story, even when history did not always recognize it. #HD70 has a proud history of breaking barriers and building bridges. Her service continues that legacy and opens doors for the next generation who now get to see themselves in places they once only imagined. We’re closing out Black History Month by celebrating Dr. Shun Thomas and the path she is helping create in #CollinCounty
