Thank you to our incredible 9-1-1 telecommunicators! This weekend, I gave the opening remarks for the 2025 North Central Texas Emergency Communications District (NCT 9-1-1) Awards Gala to celebrate the men and women who serve as the very first line of defense in any emergency, our telecommunicators and dispatchers. Every 9-1-1 call begins with a clear and steady voice on the other end of the line. A voice that reassures, instructs, and acts decisively to get help where it is needed. These professionals guide people through their worst moments with clarity and compassion. Our telecommunicators ARE first responders. They save lives every day, and their role in keeping everyone save is irreplaceable. It is long past time we update our laws to formally classify our 9-1-1 telecommunicators as first responders with all legal support and benefits. Thank you to NCT 9-1-1 for inviting me to speak, and thank you to every dispatcher who answers the call. You are true heroes, and I will continue to fight for you. #TXLege #HD70
