This year, we mark Black History Month at a heavy time. Across Texas, Black families are still navigating unequal access to opportunity, threats to voting rights, and systems that demand resilience instead of justice. Honoring Black history means telling the whole story. The brilliance and the courage, but also the unfinished work. I believe in a future where Black children can dream freely, Black families can thrive safely, and Black leadership is valued not just for endurance, but for vision.
