Republicans have controlled Texas for decades. So when they suddenly start sounding the alarm about skyrocketing home insurance costs, Texans have every right to ask: Where have you been? Homeowners insurance premiums have soared, families are paying more for coverage, and Texans are being squeezed just to protect the homes they worked so hard to afford. Now, after years of Republican control in Austin, state leaders are finally acknowledging what Texans already know: our home insurance market isn’t working for working families. A last-minute directive isn’t enough. We need real reforms that strengthen consumer protections, increase transparency and accountability, promote meaningful competition, and stop families from being priced out of their own homes. Republicans had years to lead. Texans got higher bills instead. Today, on Stillbirth Remembrance Day, we honor the babies who were deeply loved, whose lives mattered, and whose memories are carried every day by the families who love them. 💗🩵 I’m especially remembering Everly. Everly’s life may have been far too short, but her impact has been extraordinary. Her mother, Katie, turned unimaginable grief into advocacy, sharing her family’s story so that no other parent would have to navigate such a devastating loss without the care, compassion, and support they deserve. That love and advocacy became Everly’s Law, strengthening bereavement care for Texas families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss by ensuring access to counseling, resources, and cooling devices that can give grieving parents precious additional time with their babies. Katie, thank you for trusting me with Everly’s story and allowing me to help carry it with you. Your courage in sharing such a deeply personal loss has created a lasting legacy in Everly’s name and is helping families across Texas feel less alone in some of their hardest moments. Everly’s legacy lives on in every family this law touches and in every parent who is given the space and support to grieve, remember, and honor their child. Today, we remember Everly and every baby gone too soon. We say their names. We honor their lives. And we hold their families close. 💗🩵 #HD70 #TxLege #CollinCounty
